RELEASE OF 2015 KCPE RESULTS

RELEASE OF 2015 KCPE RESULTS.
CS education, Dr Alfred matiangi looked, unhappy may be because of drop in performance in public schools, high number of teacher abseteesm in some counties which he put at 70% but to me this is unrealistic figure unless supported by figures and how it happens because there are several types of abseentism, he sarcastically call the normal release of national exams a ritual may be because its a culture which lacks  to address holistic contributions to the performance, he also point out that table discussions on matters affecting education system is of priority now going forward, he too put knec on task to be responsible on the 30 minutes speech read by knec chairman and full of 'what we shall do as knec to address various challenges ranging from irregularities and others',

CS matiangi didn't read any speech but he spared time by uploading to relevant platforms for access.
He pointed out to the public that major review of curriculum is now in place and might be in its piloting stage some time later in 2017 or so..

Am happy that the inherited colonial curriculum which is no longer used even in colonial land is soon vanishing. Yes it has brought us this far but it has wasted talents, time and resources to millions of Kenya's since its inception in mid 80s.
Being in class for more than 16yrs only to come out and hustle or get underpaying job is wasting.

Though I have not scan the curriculum yet,but I personally welcome. If Ugandan child takes 6 years in primary and Tanzania child takes 7 years, then why don't we customize our curriculum to meet the needs of our current society through learners.

Mismatch of careers due to curriculum overload and emphasis on academics and taking less concern on  technical and talent areas to me has been a worrying trend.

I think,a time has come that we need not to think that education is primary, secondary and university, and those who don't make this path are failures,I think  we need to broaden our scope that there are other areas we can put learners eg talent schools/academies, technical schools in order to bring out what is in them which can build this Kenya and Kenyan families and beyond.

Thank you.

Wish you all happy new year 2016.
